Marketing Tips for Models

Hi all,

So you want to be a model and don't have a clue where to start? Don't worry, everyone feels just like you to start with, but marketing yourself with todays technology is actually suprisingly simple and you may already be using some of the tools without even knowing how good they can be for your career.

1) Facebook - a must for any aspiring model, be careful you don't post any risky photos but make sure you set up a Group promoting your portfolio - once you have created your own group make sure all your friends join up, then aim to invite other people (such as other models) to join as well - it is amazing how quickly this will spread!

2) Nuts, Zoo etc - email all available lads mags! They are always looking for fresh new models so visit their websites and get emailing!

3) Twitter - set yourself up an account and start searching for like minded people to follow you, post regular tweets about shoots you have just had and post links to those shoots - post a link to us too if you don't mind! Also follow our Twitter account at www.twitter.com/ukmodelsite

4) Photo retouching - there is no point in sending photos to people when the photo is not as good as it can be - try companies like our partner, www.myphotorepair.co.uk - they can retouch your photos to make them look pro for around £5, a well worthwhile investment

5) UKModelSite.com - obviously the greatest modelling community on the planet, so OK, we are new but when best to join? Be one of the first and make a real name for yourself on the site... www.ukmodelsite.com

6) Purestorm, Model Mayhem, Nomorehiding - all great sites and worth a search on Google for them - not free like ours but they have a great network and worth being a member

7) Forums and blogs - be a part of forums, contribute a lot and be respectful

8) Photographers - photographers, or togs often offer free photo shoots in exchange for allowing them to use your images - can be a great way to gain experience, but BE SAFE, make sure you have references from any tog and make sure you have spoken with them on the phone not just email. Never ever ever ever ever ever give anybody any money prior to meeting with them no matter what promises they offer you. No serious agency / tog will ever require payment up front.

9) Youtube - got a video of yourself talking about how you want to be a model? Well post in on Youtube for instant results

We hope this helps, but if you have any further questions please feel free to contact us..
